Genesis 12:1-3 (NKJV) Now the Lord had said to Abram: “Get out of your country, From your family And from your father’s house, To a land that I will show you. 2 I will make you a great nation; I will bless you And make your name great; And you shall be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you, And I will curse him who curses you; And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
Since Israel’s rebirth as a nation the U.S.A. has been her strongest supporter. America has provided arms, aid, and protection for Israel. American in turn has been blessed. Over the past few years, especially under the Obama administration, this relationship has been strained.
God has promised to bless those who bless Israel. He also said He would judge those who opposed Israel. God said that He gave the land of Israel to the descendants of Abraham, Isacc, and Jacob forever. See Genesis 13:15; 17:18; Deuteronomy 32:8; and 1 Chronicles 16:13-18.
God further said that He would judge the nations that divide His land. Joel 3:2
Over the past four presidential administrations there have been major disasters that happened to America at the same time that our nation was pressuring Israel to give up land that God has given them. Following is a partial list of tragedies that are connected to our foreign policy toward Israel.
October 10, 1991- President Bush opens the Madrid Conference to consider pressuring Israel to give up land for peace. The “Perfect Storm” develops that pounds Kennebunkport, home of the President.
August, 1992- The Madrid Conference moves to Washington. Hurricane Andrew hits. At this time it was the worst natural disaster to ever hit America.
January 16, 1994- President Clinton meets with the president of Syria to talk about Israel giving up Golan Heights. Within 24 hours an earthquake hits Northridge, California. This was the second most destructive natural disaster to hit this country.
September 28, 1998- Secretary of State Albrecht works on the final details in which Israel would give up 13% of Judea and Samaria. Hurricane George hits the gulf coast with winds up to 175 mph. Arafat is in Washington talking about the proposed deal under consideration. The hurricane stalls causing continual damage. When Arafat leaves the country the storm starts to dissipate.
November 30, 1998- President Clinton lands in the “Palestinian” controlled section of Israel to discuss the “land for peace” process. The House of Representatives votes four articles of impeachment against Clinton.
September, 2011- President Bush and Secretary of State Powell are preparing to go to the United Nations to make a speech calling on the formation of a two state “Palestine.” They had to cancel their plans because of the terrorist attack of September 11.
August, 2005- Jewish families were forced from their homes in Gaza. We had pressured Israel to give up Gaza. That same day Hurricane Katrina formed.
April, 2010- President Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton demand that Israel quit building in Jerusalem. The terrible oil accident in the Gulf of Mexico happens. Again, this is only a partial list.
The U.S. needs Israel more than Israel needs us! Why? Ultimately God will defend Israel. Whether we as a nation are blessed or judged largely depends upon our treatment of Israel.
